Advance Pay Service System For Inmates
Sunday, November 7th, 2010V-Connect offers an advance Pay service which is a form of prepaid service for inmates who are incarcerated in jails or other correctional institutions so that their family or friends can receive inmate collect calls from them. It is useful to inmates as the inmates can make calls to numbers that have restrictions from receiving the calls from the particular jail or institution.
In various cases, inmates may not be able to make collect calls directly as the telephone company might have placed blocks. The VAC or Value Added Communication sometimes does not allow them to avail this service from the local telephone companies as the billing contract is not there. If the monthly billing limit has been reached by the inmate, then the VAC does not allow the local phone company to provide them the service and his account is suspended. In such cases, the inmate can take help from V-Connect and avail of inmate call collect services provided by their Advance Pay system.
The family or friend has to first pay an amount for this service and receive calls even for numbers which had previously been under restriction. By creating a prepaid account, when an inmate collect call is made and accepted then the call charge as well as taxes are reduced from his prepaid account. You can make the payments by means of check, debit or credit cards or by money order. Rates for each call will depend upon the location of the inmate’s phone number and its distance from the facility provided. A transaction fee is received at the time of creating the account.
Whenever an inmate is transferred the fids also is transferred provided the V-Connect services are present at the new place otherwise the money is refunded. If an account is stagnant then V-Connect charges $4.95 per month which is an inactivity fee if there is no call activity for 180 days till all the amount paid is over or till the calls are resumed.
Setting up your advance pay account for the inmate call collect is quite easy as you can use your MasterCard or your Visa and the minimum amount for an account is $25 whereas the maximum is $100. For money orders there is no transaction, and for others it is $7.95. Alternatively, you can call 1 800 -913 – 6097 and pay.
